The Atlanta Braves did not meet expectations in 2024. They have multiple starting pitchers hitting free agency and could look to replace them with a superstar.
While listing potential landing spots for ace Blake Snell, Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter named the Braves as a team that could use him.
"With Spencer Strider still recovering from Tommy John surgery and both Max Fried and Charlie Morton departing in free agency, the Braves have some work to do shoring up the starting rotation," wrote Reuter. "Morton and Fried made a combined $35 million in 2023, so there is some money to spend if they want to splurge on a rotation addition, but a second-tier arm still looks like their most likely target."
Spotrac projects Snell to sign a five-year, $131 million deal in free agency. He is a two-time Cy Young Award winner and has an All-Star selection as well. He had a 6.31 ERA going into the All-Star break. However, he turned things around and looked like himself in the second half. In his final 12 starts, he had a 1.45 ERA and 103 strikeouts.
Snell proved he can still be an ace and that he has more good years left in him. He should not have to wait long in free agency to secure a deal like last season.
The Braves rotation projects to be Chris Sale, Reynaldo López, Spencer Schwellenbach, Grant Holmes and Ian Anderson if Fried and Morton both sign elsewhere. Adding Snell to that group along with Strider when he is healthy could be a dangerous trio at the top of the rotation.
