With the second-to-last pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Chargers have selected Florida defensive back Trikweze Bridges.

Bridges is a big cornerback at 6-foot-2 and nearly 200 pounds who is a press corner who also has the skills to play safety. His 6-foot-9-inch wingspan is incredible for a defensive back and was likely the reason the Chargers decided to see what else he has to offer.

Bridges joins R.J. Mickens as the Chargers spent their last two picks on players to add depth to the secondary. The Chargers moved on from Asante Samuel Jr. and chose not to re-sign Kristian Fulton in free agency. They replaced them with Donte Jackson and Benjamin St-Juste but the consensus is that the team needs more help.

Two rookies the team took in the fifth round last year, Tarheeb Still and Cam Hart, will be tasked with being regular contributors in 2025, but Bridges could find a spot on the back end of this roster.

Lance Zierlein of NFL.com had the following to say in regards to Bridges in his scouting report:

"Sixth-year senior with outstanding length and the versatility to take snaps as a zone corner or split safety. Bridges has played press corner but is fairly average at matching releases and routes. He’s more adept as an off-man or zone corner. He might be at his best as a roaming safety, utilizing his instincts, closing burst and ball skills to make plays on the football. He’s an aggressive striker against pass catchers but needs to prove he can eliminate arm tackling as a run supporter. Bridges' traits, versatility and special-teams potential give him a chance of making a team."

The Chargers now have a full room in the secondary and more players could, and likely will, be added as undrafted free agents.
