With the Milwaukee Bucks now in their offseason after losing in the playoffs in the first round again, it’s time to make some hard decisions. One of those decisions being if they are going to trade superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, and where.
NBA legend Carmelo Anthony was asked about the subject on his podcast, and he suggested a rather head-scratching destination for Antetokounmpo that no one would have thought of: The Charlotte Hornets. His reasoning being Antetokounmpo needs to go to either a young team with talent, or a team that can build around him, which Charlotte is both.
“Unless you go young, unless you going to team up with LaMelo Ball or somebody,” Anthony stated.
However, Anthony then followed up and emphasized that Antetokounmpo isn't a player you trade for, he’s someone you build around. So yes, while you are trading for him, he’s not the one piece that will solve your problems. He’s the center piece that you surround with smaller pieces that will solve your problems.
While Anthony does make this point, picking Charlotte wasn’t a mistake either. If Antetokounmpo were to team up with Ball, that would be a duo to fear. Plus, they have a supporting cast in Miles Bridges, Brandon Miller, and Mark Williams.
While the Hornets would most likely have to give up a ton of picks and probably including Miller, Antetokounmpo with the rest of the Hornets could actually be playoff contenders. The Hornets also have a high possibility of getting a top pick in the lottery, which they can use to get someone to support Antetokounmpo and Ball, or use it in the trade instead of Miller.

Charlotte is an interesting choice, and could make for serious headlines. If Charlotte calls with a good offer, Milwaukee might want to pick up the phone.
