One of the top Class of 2026 quarterbacks in the country has made his college commitment official.

Kane Archer, a 6-foot-1, 210-pound incoming senior four-star quarterback from Greenwood, Ark., announced on social media that he has committed to UCF, choosing the Big 12 Conference's Knights over schools like Arkansas, SMU and App State.

The selection by Archer to UCF comes as perhaps a surprise to some recruiting insiders; in fact, according to an article on the website On3.com, Archer received a 61.8% prediction to commit to Arkansas, while UCF was predicted at 1.2%.

Archer becomes one of the top high-profile recruits for new UCF coach Scott Frost, who is in his second stint with the Knights.

In a story on UCF’s Rivals website UCFSports.com, Archer remarked that he received attention from the Knights’ quarterbacks coach, McKenzie Milton, another factor in Archer deciding to commit to the Knights.

"I remember Coach (Milton) hit my cell, I think it was January 17," Archer said in the Rivals story. "He came out here during the winter and it really felt like I was important because he was one of the first ones to come and see me.

“He'd only been there for like two or three weeks. He had just left Tennessee and was moving his family back to Florida, but he took the time to fly out and visit me. The relationship has been really, really good.”

Archer is about to wrap up what has already been a sparkling high school career playing at Greenwood, located in western Arkansas about 10 miles south of Fort Smith and is one of the state’s powerhouse programs. The Bulldogs have won 12 state championships, all since 2000, and have had a long reputation for producing outstanding quarterbacks.

In his career at Greenwood, beginning as a freshman in 2022, Archer has thrown for 6,988 yards and 99 TDs while only being intercepted eight times, with the Bulldogs winning Class 6A in his sophomore and junior seasons. He is also 26-0 in his career as a varsity starter.

Last season, Archer completed a national record 81.5% of his passes (247-of-303) for 3,880 yards and 57 TDs while leading Greenwood to a 13-0 record and a back-to-back 6A championship. He also rushed for 795 yards on 81 carries and 10 TDs.

Following the season, Archer was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Arkansas.
