The San Francisco 49ers still have not extended Brock Purdy. However, a recent report indicates that a deal could be on the horizon now that the draft is over and the focus turns to OTAs.
Purdy's extension has been looming over the 49ers' front office all offseason. General manager John Lynch has remained adamant that a deal will get done, and ESPN's Nick Wagoner revealed that a deal could get done before the 49ers start OTAs.
"This is the question that has loomed all offseason. But it seems, at least for now, that a resolution might be coming relatively soon," wrote Wagoner. "Niners GM John Lynch generally prefers not to give incremental updates during contract negotiations, which is why it was notable when he said last week that there have been 'substantive talks' and that things are 'going in a good direction.' With the draft now over, it wouldn't be a surprise if something gets done by the time the Niners begin OTAs near the end of May."
Purdy is present during the 49ers' voluntary offseason program. However, there is no guarantee that his situation will not turn into a holdout if a deal is not reached by the mandatory portion of the offseason program.
There are no indications that Purdy will not be the 49ers' starting quarterback when they take the field in week one of the NFL season. The only question seems to be how much money he will be making at that point in time.

Purdy is expected to sign a deal that would make him the highest-paid player in franchise history. The Athletic's Dianna Russini revealed that he and the 49ers are approaching a deal that would make him a top 10 quarterback in terms of average annual value. That would mean his next contract will pay him at least $51 million per year, which is how much Jalen Hurts' average annual value is.
