The world's top skaters will be in Japan this week for the 2025 ISU World Team Trophy, the last event of the 2024/25 figure skating season.

Skaters from the top six nations this season (USA, Japan, Italy, France, Canada, and Georgia) will compete across four events — men's short, women's short, pairs short, and ice dance — from April 17 to April 20. This will be the 10th edition of the World Team Trophy, which is biennial competition.

The United States come into this year's edition as the defending champions, having won the 2023 ISU World Team Trophy in dominant fashion with a 25-point margin, the biggest in the competition's history.

They are expected to be challenged by hosts Japan, who will hope to improve upon their performance from the recently concluded World Cup in Boston.
