The Deion Sanders fear that caused Shedeur Sanders’ NFL Draft slide, according to former top QB image

The Shedeur Sanders NFL Draft free fall has gotten pretty much every explanation possible.

Former NFL star Robert Griffin III recently added his thought to the picture.

RG3 thinks that NFL coaches were afraid of picking Shedeur and then having his father Deion brought on as head coach to replace them.

"I’m being told some NFL Head Coaches feared drafting Shedeur Sanders in the 1st round as a starter, it not working out and then eventually being replaced by Deion Sanders as Head Coach," Griffin posted on X. "That’s weak and cowardly. Cost this man $40 Million."

There was speculation this offseason that Deion could leave Colorado for the NFL after his two sons and phenom Travis Hunter all concluded their collegiate careers.

Deion has been adamant in his commitment to CU, though.

Colorado and Sanders agreed to a five-year extension worth $54 million.

"We've just scratched the surface of what this program can be," Deion said at the time of the extension. "It's not just about football; it's about developing young men who are ready to take on the world. I'm committed to bringing greatness to this university, on and off the field."

It seems like NFL coaches would only fear for their jobs if they thought a player wasn't good enough to deliver on the field for them.

That's more likely why Sanders slid to the Browns at No. 144 overall, not his father.

But RG3 took his stance on this, and it's certainly an intriguing angle. Maybe it really was in the back of some minds in draft rooms.
