With the 2025 NFL draft in the rearview mirror, all 32 teams are now turning their attention to the 2026 season and their offseason program, which typically includes a rookie minicamp, mandatory minicamp, organized team activities (OTAs) and training camp.
While the Detroit Lions will have their slew of drafted and undrafted first-year players at rookie minicamp from May 9-11, the team didn't have any dates listed for a mandatory minicamp this year on the NFL's offseason schedule release.
SB Nation's Jeremy Reisman reported on Wednesday that Detroit will not hold mandatory minicamp sessions at all this offseason, which is likely due to the team playing in tis year's Hall of Fame preseason game, giving them (and their opponents) one more exhibition contest than the other 30 teams.
Now, the Lions will hold minicamp from May 9-11 and their OTAs from May 28-30 and June 3-5. They've yet to release any information on training camp schedules to this point, and the league will release the full regular-season schedule for all times on May 14 at 8 p.m. ET.
The first time we'll see Dan Campbell's team in action will be that Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio against the Los Angeles Chargers on July 31.
After having arguably their best regular season in franchise history in 2024, the Lions were eliminated by the Washington Commanders in the divisional round of the playoffs. Since then, their coaching staff was gutted, with defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and offensive coordinator Ben Johnson earning head coaching opportunities elsewhere.

2025 will give Campbell and his team the chance to take the next step and prove to the rest of the league that they're legitimate contenders. They have a long road ahead of them, but it all starts with rookie minicamp, and Detroit has an intriguing group of new, young players who could help them accomplish their ultimate goals and at least make a run in the NFC playoffs.
