LeBron James makes disappointing announcement about Met Gala image

Each year, the Met Gala is full of top-tier celebrities, athletes and stars for one of the biggest nights of fashion. This year is no different as stars such as Angel Reese, Simone Biles and LeBron James are expected to attend the fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.

However, James gave a major update regarding his expected attendance at The Met Gala, and the Los Angeles Lakers star won't be able to join due to the injury he suffered in the postseason.

"Unfortunately because of my knee injury I sustained at the end of the season I won’t be able to attend the Met Gala in NY tonight as so many people have been asking and congratulating me on! Hate to miss an historical event! My beautiful Queen will be there holding the castle down as she always has done!"

James was expected to be an honorary chair for the event alongside Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour, so him not being there is quite a big deal.

LeBron's wife, Savannah, will be on hand for The Met Gala, and she already made waves with her outfit on Monday

A report surfaced last week regarding James being injured during Game 5 of the Lakers' first-round loss to the Timberwolves. ESPN's Dave McMenamin revealed James suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee, an injury that usually includes a three-to-five-week recovery timeline.
