Donald Trump defends Colorado Buffaloes football legend Shedeur Sanders amid shocking NFL draft slide image

After Shedeur Sanders slid out of the first round in the NFL Draft, the President of the United States took to social media to make a statement on the shocking turn of events. Many football fans and analysts seemed unfortunately eager to kick Sanders while he was down after Day 1 of the draft.

Donald Trump revealed himself as an apparent fan of the Sanders family, offering a passionate message on Shedeur’s talent and potential.

“What is wrong with NFL owners, are they STUPID? Deion Sanders was a great college football player, and was even greater in the NFL,” Trump wrote. “He’s also a very good coach, streetwise and smart! Therefore, Shedeur, his quarterback son, has PHENOMENAL GENES, and is all set for Greatness. He should be “picked” IMMEDIATELY by a team that wants to WIN. Good luck Shedeur, and say hello to your wonderful father!”

Following Trump’s post, Sanders fell even further in the draft with a free fall out of the second and third rounds. Sanders was finally selected the next day in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns. After early mock drafts projected him as a top-five selection, the former Colorado Buffaloes star fell to the 144th pick.

Controversial reports on Sanders’ pre-draft interview saw him slide in some mock drafts, but the extent of his slide certainly shocked the football world. Deion, Shedeur’s father, coached him at Colorado and has drawn controversial attention for his perceived degree of involvement in Shedeur’s NFL destination.

Coach Prime has always been a polarizing figure in the football world, and his enigmatic status has seemingly caught up with his son. Shedeur’s well-documented plethora of confidence struck a chord with many who believed he needed to show more humility.

Shedeur will look to prove the doubters wrong when he begins his NFL journey in Cleveland.
