It may be a holiday, but the Seattle Seahawks are going through business as usual as they prepare for their Week 13 road matchup with the New York Jets. At this time of the season no NFL team is exempt from injury issues, and Seattle is no exception to the rule. Yesterday's initial injury report for the week was concerning on a few levels, especially in regards to the players who did not participate.
Five players were listed as DNPs at Wednesday's practice, with the biggest name being the team's star wide receiver DK Metcalf. Here's a quick rundown of the team's major injury issues going into Week 13.
DK Metcalf
Metcalf has been on and off the injury report a lot this season with mostly minor issues, but he also had to sit out two games this month with an MCL sprain. This week Metcalf is on the injury report again, this time with a shoulder issue. This is the first time we've heard about the shoulder injury, so hopefully we will learn more from head coach Mike Macdonald soon. Either way, we'll be monitoring Metcalf's status closely as the week progresses.
Tyler Lockett
Metcalf's long-time partner in crime Tyler Lockett is also on the injury report his week. He is dealing with a knee issue. Lockett has also spent a good deal of time in the injury report this season, as he's dealt with a lingering leg injury that stems back to training camp. Nevertheless, Lockett has appeared in all 11 games for the Seahawks so far this year.
Leonard Williams
Outside of Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the hottest player on Seattle's roster right now is defensive end Leonard Williams, who pretty much single-handedly destroyed the Arizona Cardinals and their chances of winning last Sunday. Williams isn't even playing at 100%, either. He has been on the injury report for a few weeks with a foot issue, and he was listed among the DNPs yesterday. Thus far Williams has been playing through the injury with no apparent problem.
Uchenna Nwosu
The Seahawks finally got some good injury news yesterday on their top edge rusher, Uchenna Nwosu. He was designated to return to practice, opening his 21 day window to be activated from the injured reserve list to the 53-man roster. Nwosu was listed as a limited participant with the thigh injury he suffered against the New York Giants back in Week 5. Macdonald told reporters that he will not play this week against the Jets. Next week's critical rematch with the Cardinals seems like an appropriate return date, but it's no guarantee.
