Abdul Carter turned a near-disaster into a life-changing moment last Thursday after he was selected No. 3 overall by the New York Giants.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Wednesday that Carter was yet another victim of the NFL's prank call epidemic, which happened to the likes of quarterback Shedeur Sanders and tight end  Tyler Warren, among others.

"The pranks keep coming: it turns out that Abdul Carter also got a prank call during the second pick in which the caller said he was from the Jaguars and they were going to select him with the No. 2 overall pick," Schefter tweeted.

According to Carter's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, they could tell the Jaguars weren't a mutual fit after answering on the other end.

"It’s unfortunate that these private numbers are getting to the people making the prank calls, Rosenhaus told Schefter. "Abdul and I knew it was [BS] and didn’t even tell his family about the call.”

Eventually, things subsided after Giants General Manager Joe Schoen called Carter to inform him he was being selected before getting a chance to introduce himself to his new coach, Brian Daboll.

After the two exchanged pleasantries, Carter sealed the deal from a first impression standpoint.

"Let's make history," Carter said.

This past season, in his final year in State College, Carter improved his draft stock immensely en route to helping the Penn State Nittany Lions advance to the Orange Bowl before losing to Notre Dame. A 12-sack season turned in his best year in college, and now he'll look to build off it at the next level.

"It's going to be dope just getting to know those guys as a person, getting to know them as men and then getting closer as teammates," Carter told Giants.com. "And then once we get on the field together, just wreak havoc."
