Marcus Freeman and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are expected to be a national championship contender during the upcoming 2025 college football season. After making it to the big game last year and coming up short against the Ohio State Buckeyes, Notre Dame wants to take one more step.
Over the last few years, Freeman has done an excellent job of rebuilding the Fighting Irish back to being one of the elite teams in the country. He has accomplished that feat with top-tier recruiting and great selection in the transfer portal.
Looking ahead to the 2026 recruiting class, Freeman is working hard to put together another elite group of young players.
With that in mind, Notre Dame is receiving a last-second visit from a coveted wide receiver in the 2026 recruiting class.
According to a report from Mike Singer of On3 Recruits, the Fighting Irish are visiting with four-star wide receiver Gordon Sellars. He will be announcing his commitment decision on Friday.
Sellars would be a big-time get for the Notre Dame offense. The program is being given a final chance to swing him to committing.

247 Sports has Sellars ranked as a four-star prospect in the 2026 class and he is ranked as the No. 34 wideout in the nation. He is also ranked as the No. 204 overall player in the nation and No. 13 in the state of North Carolina.
Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, the 6-foot-2 and 180-pound wide receiver has received interest from quite a few high-profile programs.
Among the biggest contenders to land Sellars outside of the Fighting Irish are the Clemson Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Georgia Bulldogs, and South Carolina Gamecocks.
It will be interesting to see if Notre Dame and Freeman can convince him to join the program.
