Capitals vs. Hurricanes tickets: Costs, date to watch Alex Ovechkin's 'Gr8 Chase' to NHL goal record

Wayne Gretzky is considered the greatest hockey player of all time. He holds numerous records, some of which might not ever be reached. Thanks to Alexander Ovechkin, one record was finally broken for the first time in three decades. 

On April 6, 2025, Ovechkin scored his record-895th goal, breaking Gretzky's goal after tying the count a few days before. While the 'Gr8 Chase' is over, the best of the best will now return home to celebrate with a matchup against the Hurricanes. Both squads have secured a spot in the playoffs, but with the postseason just days away, the final push is on.

The 39-year-old Ovechkin now has 42 goals in his 20th season, a feat in itself despite missing games with a broken left fibula.

The Capitals face a Metro Division rival in the Hurricanes, a team a few points away from them in the standings. The former holds an edge in the rivalry, winning over 100 games.
