Ed Sheeran found himself in hot water after unintentionally interrupting a live Sky Sports interview with Manchester United's new boss, Ruben Amorim.

The pop star and Ipswich Town shareholder was attending Sunday’s 1-1 draw between Ipswich and Manchester United when the incident occurred.

Following the game, Amorim was speaking to reporters about his debut as United’s manager when Sheeran strolled into the shot to greet pundit Jamie Redknapp.

The singer then joked that Amorim “didn’t want to speak to” him before walking off.

Fans were quick to criticize the timing of Sheeran’s interruption, but the artist wasted no time issuing an apology.

What Ed Sheeran wrote on social media

Sheeran addressed the situation on Instagram, writing, “Apologies if I offended Amorim yesterday, didn’t actually realize he was being interviewed at the time.

"Was popping to say hi and bye to Jamie. Obvz feel a bit of a b*llend but life goes on. Great game though, congrats on all involved x.”

While Sheeran’s lighthearted apology calmed some fans, Amorim remained focused on the game. Speaking after the draw, the Portuguese manager said his team showed signs of nervousness.

“We were afraid and thinking too much,” he admitted. Amorim also pointed out three key areas where his squad must improve ahead of their upcoming Europa League clash with Bodo/Glimt.

As for Ipswich, the draw kept them in the Premier League’s bottom three. However, their spirited performance gave fans, and Sheeran, hope for survival this season following their recent promotion.
