Ravens fans no longer have to wonder about the fate of Kyle Hamilton and Tyler Linderbaum. It was announced by General Manager Eric DeCosta on April 30 which direction the team is going in.

"We are exercising the fifth-year option for Kyle Hamilton, with the goal of working toward a multi-year contract extension," DeCosta’s team statement reads. However, the GM further revealed that the team will not extend Linderbaum’s option.

The 24-year-old has been an instrumental player for the Ravens on the field. Hamilton was the 14th overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft and was selected as a first-team All-Pro in 2023. The safety is currently under contract worth $18.6 million through the 2026 season.

If the Ravens had pursued a fifth-year option for Linderbaum, it would’ve cost the team a staggering $23.4 million. This steep number would have been over $5 million more than the highest-paid center per year — the current highest-paid center is Creed Humphrey, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs.

It seems the high price may have been a determining factor in declining Linderbaum’s option, however, the team still has a plan for the player. "While we will not apply the fifth-year option to Tyler Linderbaum, it is our intention for him to remain a Baltimore Raven long term," DeCosta stated.

Earlier this month, Linderbaum was asked during the Ravens' offseason conditioning program if he’s discussed a contract extension with the team. "Honestly, I'm really not even focused on that right now," the football star revealed on April 21. "I'm giving my all to the team right now, and that's my focus, and that's how it should be."
