The Los Angeles Rams have taken another running back on day two under head coach Sean McVay. With the 83rd overall pick, the Rams selected Michigan running back Blake Corum.
It's an interesting selection for the Rams, especially with the emergence of Kyren Williams in 2023. Corum comes from the Michigan Wolverines where he was successful over the last few seasons as a starter, including helping lead them to a National Title in 2023.
His scouting report is an interesting one, as Corum has some intriguing elements and red flags.
Rams RB Blake Corum scouting report
Strengths
Corum is a very savvy runner with great vision and decision-making. He understands what his blockers are doing and stays patient consistently. He doesn't have an issue waiting for a hole to open up. When defenders persist, he can change directions and set them up with his patience and manipulates them.
Weaknesses
His size is a major issue. He is 5-8 and doesn't play bigger than that nor is he a hyper athlete. You would hope that he could be more powerful but that's just not the case. He also has some injury issues that plagued him in college, including a torn meniscus.
Is he worth the pick?
I had him as a fourth-round grade but I didn't see a difference-maker at the position. The Rams also didn't really need a running back. Witth the talent on the board at other positions, it's an interesting choice.
