The Baltimore Ravens have a roster that is ready to contend for a Super Bowl.

The team had hopes of reaching that level last year, but a divisional round loss to the Buffalo Bills doomed their chances. This offseason, the team didn't have a ton of money to spend, but was still able to add a few quality pieces.

Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, offensive tackle Joe Noteboom, and cornerback Chidobe Awuzie are the biggest names the team has added so far in free agency

Then, in the 2025 NFL Draft, the team added talented edge-rusher Mike Green in the second round. Green slipped in the draft due to some off-field issues, but when on the field, the Marshall product could be an elite pass-rusher.

Thus, Sterling Xie of Pro Football Network thinks the Ravens could move on from talented edge-rusher Odafe Oweh. Regarding Oweh and the Ravens, Xie offered the following:

Before the draft, ESPN’s Adam Schefter curiously listed Odafe Oweh as a potential trade target for teams. While nothing materialized, the Baltimore Ravens’ edge rusher is set to play out his fifth-year option in 2025 (barring an extension).

If the Ravens view Oweh’s high sack total as a mirage, it would explain why they took a chance on Mike Green in the second round. Green was available that late because of his past troubling sexual assault allegations, as he was a first-round talent based on his pure pass-rush ability. His arrival could give the Ravens some leverage in extension talks with Oweh, opening up the possibility of a trade if there’s a disconnect about his true pass-rush ability.

As Xie mentioned, NFL insider Adam Schefter listed Oweh as a potential trade candidate, even before the draft.

Also, if the Ravens don't feel like an extension will be reached, it wouldn't be a total shock to see the team try and get some assets in return before he reaches the market.

Still, it would be surprising to see the team make a move with Oweh. The defender racked up 39 tackles, 10 sacks, nine tackles for loss, and one forced fumble last year. Oweh also earned a respectable 71.2 Pro Football Focus grade in 2024 and was credited with 48 pressures.

Veteran Kyle Van Noy was the only Raven to collect more sacks than Oweh in 2024. However, Van Noy is 34 years old and it's probably not wise to expect the veteran to duplicate those numbers in 2025, thus, the Ravens would probably be wary to move on from a younger option like Oweh.

However, if the Ravens do decide to move Oweh, there would likely be plenty of interested teams. The Ravens consistently draft well, so the team could be open to receiving a mid-round pick in exchange for a good-not-great defender.
