Georgia, Kirby Smart suffer tough transfer portal news on Wednesday image

Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have become a yearly national championship contender in recent years. He has done an excellent job of building a program that players want to commit to out of high school and transfer to.

While the transfer portal has been a help at times for Georgia, a lot of talent has walked away as well. On Wednesday, the Bulldogs received some tough news regarding the transfer portal.

According to a report from college football expert Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports, running back Branson Robinson has opted to enter the portal and explore other options.

Robinson played sparingly during his sophomore season. He may not have played a lot during his first two years with the program, but he has shown major potential.

Throughout his first two years in Georgia, Robinson carried the football 93 times for 403 yards and six touchdowns. He averaged a solid 4.3 yards per carry. There is no question that he has the talent to be a high-impact running back.

Unfortunately, he was never able to break through and earn a consistent role for the Bulldogs, which has led to him entering the portal to find a better fit with more playing time.

According to 247 Sports, Robinson was the No. 9 running back in the 2022 recruiting class and came out of high school as a four-star prospect. He was also ranked No. 138 overall in the nation and was the No. 3 ranked player in the state of Mississippi.

Even though his time with the Georgia football program has come to an end, Robinson has a bright future ahead of him. If he can find a school that gives him a chance to start or at least play a consistent role, he should be able to put on a show.
