The Boston Red Sox have been looking for two things to complete their offseason: a right-handed slugger, and a high-impact reliever. On the reliever front, many high-impact guys have been taken off the market, and apparently the Sox aren’t serious about some of the ones left. According to Sox insider Chris Cotillo, the team is not ‘seriously pursuing’ All-Star reliever Carlos Estevez.
Last season, Estevez was elite. He finished with a 2.45 ERA, 50 strikeouts, 26 saves, and a WHIP of .909.
The Sox need another reliever that’s quality, and not pursuing one of the top guys on the market is a little confusing.
The Sox better have someone on the agenda, as they have lost out on a bunch of top relievers, while only getting an older Aroldis Chapman, who isn’t the closer he was anymore.
Hopefully, the Sox get a known top reliever, and can put themselves in contention to win the AL East.
