Former New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones cleared waivers Monday and now will begin fielding offers to find his next team.
While Jones is expected to sign with a contender rather quickly, he reportedly already crossed one team off his list in terms of consideration for where he will begin the next chapter of his journey.
According to Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports, Jones reportedly has eliminated the Las Vegas Raiders as a potential destination.
"Despite interest from the #Raiders, free agent QB Daniel Jones has eliminated Las Vegas from his consideration (contrary to other reports)," Schultz posted on X. "The former #Giants’ QB is weighing substantial interest from multiple playoff teams, and wants to join a postseason contender."
It has been well-reported that Jones is looking to join a contender as a backup option. The Baltimore Ravens, Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers have been teams linked as potential destinations for the former No. 6 overall pick.
It also makes sense that Jones would want to avoid joining another team that has dysfunction at quarterback and a potential change coming at head coach next offseason.
Meanwhile, the Giants' season continues to circle the drain following a blowout loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coming out of the bye in Week 12.
It will be interesting to see where Jones lands, but it seems he won't be taking his talents to Vegas.
