Athletes to win Dancing with the Stars: Here's a full list of sports stars on DWTS, from Emmitt Smith to Shawn Johnson

Professional athletes are commonplace on "Dancing with the Stars." There are usually a handful each season — season 26 even featured all athletes.

You can understand the allure, as athletes are physically fit enough to complement their partners, and their sports likely require the nimbleness on their feet that could translate to the ballroom.

During the 20-year run of DWTS, 84 athletes have competed. Twelve have gone on to win the coveted Mirrorball Trophy. Four athletes entered the competition in the most recent 33rd season of the show: Dwight Howard, Danny Amendola, Ilona Maher and Stephen Nedoroscik. Ahead of this year's season, former NBA shooting guard Iman Shumpert was the most recent athlete to win DWTS.

From Evander Holyfield to Shumpert, here is a list of all the athletes who have competed on the show and which ones have won the Mirrorball Trophy.
