Created in 2007, the World IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championships showcases the best and brightest of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu thanks to the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF). 

There are various forms of competitions at the event, depending on the level of the athlete (Blue, Purple, Black belt). 

Divisions (male and female) competing include: 

  • Roosterweight
  • Light Featherweight
  • Featherweight
  • Lightweight
  • Middleweight
  • Medium Heavyweight
  • Heavyweight
  • Super Heavyweight
  • Ultra Heavyweight

One of the most accomplished competitors is Caio Terra, with ten men's championships. Bia Mesquita and Tammi Musumeci own the women's record with five.

The World IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championships will not be available on a national TV channel. Grappling fans can stream the tournament exclusively on FloGrappling.

World IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championships schedule 2024

  • Dates: Thursday, Dec. 12-Saturday, Dec. 14

The IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championships starts on Thursday, December 12 at the Las Vegas Convention Center at 9:30 a.m. local time. It ends on December 14 and will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

One of the top-seeded competitors is multi-time IBJJF medalist Everton Souza, a black belt. He competes at Roosterweight. Eight-time World Champion Gabi Pessanha, on a 144-match unbeaten streak, also competes.

Junny Ocasio has competed in several different rulesets, from submission-only competition to IBJJF rules, with success. The multi-time BJJ winner competes in light featherweight action. Meanwhile, 23-year-old Jessie Crane, who is a multi-time world medalist, competes in light featherweight action. 

BJJ Brown Belt Giancarlo Lo Russo competes in an early matchup against Natan Slawomir Sap, a 2024 Pan IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship competitor.
