The Milwaukee Bucks were outclassed during their first playoff game in 2025 against the Indiana Pacers, losing 117-98. This was not how the Bucks wanted to start their playoff run. However, things could be looking up for them.
Damian Lillard did not play in Game 1, as he has been dealing with a blood clot, and he is expected to return for either Game 2 or 3, per ESPN’s Shams Charania. Minutes before the game wrapped up, Lillard got into it with Pacer star Tyrese Haliburton, where it appears he made a six-word promise.
As the two were chirping back and forth with each other, Lillard appeared to exclaim, “You want this? I’m coming Tuesday!” which was posted immediately posted all over social media.
This implies that Lillard will return to the court for Game 2. There have been no official reports confirming this precise return date. If Lillard comes back that soon, it changes the entire dynamic of the series. Even if the Bucks don’t win, they likely won’t get blown out like in Game 1.
Lillard and Haliburton also have some history with each other. Haliburton mocked Lillard during the 2023 NBA Cup by checking his fake watch as Lillard does when he declares it “Dame Time.” Haliburton’s actions did not sit well with the Bucks star afterward.
Lillard’s return will not only even the playing field against the Pacers, but his rivalry with Haliburton could further fuel his motivation. It would also be the first time Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo have played together in the postseason since becoming teammates.
