The Baltimore Ravens took a potential future starter in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft in offensive lineman Emery Jones Jr. The LSU product was a three-year starter in college, but he will make the switch to guard at the next level.

The Ravens' interior offensive line is lackluster, so Jones has a chance to earn a starting spot in his rookie year. However, things aren't off to a good start. According to head coach John Harbaugh, Jones is dealing with a shoulder injury and may not practice till training camp in late July.

"It's gonna be a little while. He had a labrum issue, and I don't think it's gonna clear up now," Harbaugh said about Jones' status. "Probably looking at training camp [for a return to practice], maybe earlier. He's not going to practice in the immediate future."

Obviously, this is disappointing news, as Jones has promise and could play a key role for the Ravens in 2025. The 21-year-old stayed relatively healthy in college, missing just a handful of games and being a dominant force on the Tigers' offense.

With Jones out for the foreseeable future, Andrew Vorhees and other players competing for a starting spot have massive opportunities to impress in offseason workouts. It looks like Baltimore will be having an open competition for the starting left guard role in training camp, and Jones likely being out for most of the offseason may hurt his case to earn the starting job.
