Indiana Fever guard Lexie Hull has announced the exciting news that she is engaged to her long-term boyfriend, Will Matthiessen. The pair have reportedly been dating since 2020.
On Sunday, April 20, Hull turned to Instagram to share the exciting news.
“Engaged to my best friend 💛 cheers to forever!” she captioned the post.
Many of Hull’s Fever teammates, including her close friend Caitlin Clark, filled the comment section with congratulations.
Clark was particularly excited. “YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYY SO HAPPY💕💕💕💓💓💓💓,” she gushed.
Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese also shared her excitement for the fellow WNBA star.
“GO BIG LEXIEEEEEE SO HAPPY FOR YOU🥺😍,” she wrote.
Matthiessen proposed to Hull in front of a stunning ocean backdrop, surrounded by candles and yellow roses.
He previously played baseball at Stanford, where Hull also played during her college years before entering the WNBA. Following college, Matthiessen would go on to play as first baseman for the Pittsburgh Pirates for a brief time.
Hull’s Indiana Fever teammates have been eager to celebrate Hull’s engagement. After the team’s workout on Wednesday, April 24, Clark and several other team members surprised her with a gold “bride” tiara, a “bride” tote bag, and balloons. The video was shared on the Fever’s Instagram page.
