Serena Williams delivered one of the most memorable moments of the 2025 Met Gala on Monday, May 5 — not just because of her stunning dress – but also for the joyful red carpet energy she brought.

The tennis great stepped onto the carpet at the Met in an elaborate off the shoulder gown that was a kind of shimmering pale mint color. The dress shined under the lights and brought mix of boldness and elegance that was perfect fit for the night's theme. Williams brought an effortless regal charm to the look.

In a moment that caught many peoples' attention -- Serena approached musician Jon Batiste who was periodically playing his saxophone along the carpet in front of the cameras. As she approached he started playing - turning the proceedings into a mini concert.

Serena lit up instantly, laughing and swaying to the music as the cameras captured every second. “Woo! That got me in the spirit!” she called out in joy. It was a spontaneous and instantly viral moment — a reminder that the Met Gala isn't just about clothes, but the magic that can happen when personality meets fashion.

The theme of the night was ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.’ Many of the celebrities in attendance went with looks inspired by menswear, but Serena brought her own softer, elegant twist.
