Rowdy Tellez wasn't trying to hurt anyone.

But sometimes, a guy as big as the Mariners first baseman can't help himself.

Blue Jays batter Alan Roden ran hard Saturday to try and beat out an infield hit, but the throw to Tellez at first got there just in time.

The two players wound up in the same general area, with Roden running full speed and Tellez hardly moving.

Somehow, Tellez held his ground as Roden ran into him and dropped backward as if Tellez had just put a full-blown tackle on him.

Roden checks in at 5-foot-11, 215 pounds, according to MLB.com. He's a sturdy guy who was moving fast.

But then there's Tellez: 6-foot-4 and 270 pounds (at least).

Even Roden's full-speed momentum didn't provide enough force to move Tellez off his spot. Instead, Roden was left sprawled on the ground.

Tellez once played for the Blue Jays, and this game was in Toronto, but there was clearly no intent here. He never even played with Roden.

It was really a banner Saturday for Tellez, too, as he also slugged a grand slam in the 12th inning to give the Mariners a big lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Talk about a powerful day. Tellez showed off all his strength in one afternoon and evening.
