Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans received good news Saturday morning from the spring transfer portal by securing the commitment of Kennedy Urlacher, the son of former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.

According to On3's Hayes Fawcett, Kennedy Urlacher has three years of eligibility remaining. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound safety played for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in his freshman year.

Kennedy Urlacher appeared in eight games this past season, as the Fighting Irish eventually lost the national title game against Ohio State in January. The news comes just three months after Brian Urlacher highly praised Freeman's efforts and his son's development in an interview with ESPN 1000 in Chicago.

"He [Kennedy Urlacher] made the right decision, honestly...My son looks up to him [Marcus Freeman] so much," Brian Urlacher said in January.

Kennedy Urlacher's transition to the Big Ten is critical for the Trojans program as they attempt to restore similar excellence as they did in the Pac-12. The Trojans finished 7-6, which included a bowl victory against Texas A&M in a comeback win, 35-31.

It's unclear how the rest of Kennedy Urlacher's career will go, but what is clear is he is following in his father's footsteps, and potentially, his legacy.

Brian Urlacher played for the Bears for his entire career, spanning 12 seasons from 2000-2012. Accolades included the NFL's All-Decade Team in the 2000s, four-time NFL First Team All-Pro honors, a Super Bowl appearance and eight Pro Bowl selections.

Therefore, the family lineage runs deep, and Kennedy Urlacher could be the next generation.
