The New Orleans Saints quarterback situation is incredibly uncertain heading into the 2025 NFL Draft. Derek Carr is currently dealing with a shoulder injury that has left his status for the 2025 season up in the air, and the team doesn't have another starting-caliber quarterback on the roster.
The Saints could be targeting a certain signal-caller in this week's draft, but CBS Sports' Jeff Kerr also believes the franchise could be a potential landing spot for Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins.
"Cousins is notorious for getting rid of the ball quickly, which is beneficial for a Kellen Moore offense. He could be a bridge quarterback for a year for a rookie (assuming the Saints draft one in the early rounds) or until Carr returns," Kerr wrote.
The Saints are a significant wild card in a potential Cousins pursuit, depending on what their plans are at quarterback and if the front office wants to take on another bad contract," Kerr added.
Obviously, Cousins landing in New Orleans is unlikely to happen, as the Saints and Falcons are in the same division. However, the move would make a ton of sense for Kellen Moore's squad, as Cousins would be a nice bridge and stopgap quarterback for New Orleans.
The four-time Pro Bowler is coming off an abysmal 2024 campaign that saw him get benched for Michael Penix Jr., but Cousins could be in for a bounce-back season in 2025 with a change of scenery. The veteran signal-caller has expressed his desire to be a starter, and he could opt to waive his no-trade clause for a move to the Saints.

Cousins being dealt to New Orleans would solve some problems for the Saints, but with the Falcons also being in the NFC South, this trade has a slim chance of happening. Additionally, a report from The Athletic's Dianna Russini states that Cousins doesn't want to join a team that has a young quarterback on the roster, which wouldn't be ideal for New Orleans.
