As the dust settles on Arsenal's incredible UEFA Champions League win over Real Madrid, Mikel Arteta is already looking forward to their semifinal showdown with PSG.

Goals in Madrid from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli capped a historical night for the Gunners in the Spanish capital to book a first semifinal place since 2009.

A 2-1 quarterfinal second-leg victory at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu followed Arsenal's sensational 3-0 first-leg win in North London just over a week ago.

Europe will now be Arteta's main focus in the final weeks of the campaign, as Liverpool ease away to the Premier League title, and Arsenal aim for a first-ever UCL crown.

Standing in their way in the final four is Luis Enrique's free-flowing Parisians who are also looking to win Europe's biggest domestic prize for the first time.

However, Arteta will be forced into at least one change for the semifinal first-leg against PSG on Tuesday April 29 at the Emirates Stadium - with midfield star Thomas Partey suspended.

Who will replace Thomas Partey vs. PSG?

Arteta named an unchanged lineup and 4-3-3 tactical system in both games against Real Madrid and he will rotate for their final league games of the campaign to keep his squad fresh.

Partey was one of four Arsenal players walking a suspension tightrope in Madrid and he was yellow carded on 85 minutes.

The Ghanaian's late booking was a point of frustration for Arteta - with the tie settled - and a semifinal spot secure.

UEFA rules state any player who receives three separate yellow cards in the UCL before the semifinal stage will automatically incur a one-game ban.

Declan Rice, Gabriel Martinelli and Jurrien Timber all survived the threat but Partey misses out.

All yellow cards are wiped from the semifinals onwards, to reduce the risk of suspensions for the final, with a red card the only route to a final ban under the new rules.

With Partey missing from his midfield, Arteta will change things up, but his injury list will not refresh before the first-leg.

Italy international Jorginho is a major doubt, due to a broken rib, and Arteta may look for more physicality in his engine room.

The most likely move from the Basque coach will be to pull Mikel Merino back from his rehashed central attacker role into midfield, with Belgium international Leandro Trossard starting alongside Saka and Martinelli.
