The New York Yankees made a major decision regarding closer Devin Williams. Aaron Boone revealed that Luke Weaver would take over the closer role for Williams as the offseason acquisition started with an 11.25 ERA and 2.375 WHIP through his first 8.0 innings.

Well, it didn't take long for Williams to get his first non-closer run with the Yankees. On Monday night against the Baltimore Orioles, Boone turned to Williams in the bottom of the eighth inning with the Orioles up 4-3.

How did Williams respond? Well, he went three up and three down with one strikeout on 14 pitches in an encouraging performance.

After the game, Boone spoke about Williams' outing and uttered six words, per Pete Caldera of NorthJersey.com

"Just liked his look out there,'' Boone said.

Prior to Monday's game, Boone said there wasn't a specific plan, rather he will just go with the way the game turns out, per Caldera.

“There’ll be some leverage spots he’s going to be in and I won’t hesitate to go to him," Boone said.

Well, Williams did really well in his first opportunity not as the team's closer, and now it's all about building confidence and getting back to his regular workload.
