Kiké Hernández makes wild MLB history in Dodgers blowout while rocking pitcher's helmet image

The Los Angeles Dodgers crushed the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night, 15-2. The Dodgers scored seven runs in the first three innings and then eight runs in the final three innings on a total of 18 hits in the blowout. 

Shohei Ohtani hit a home run, seven different Dodgers registered at least one RBI, Teoscar Hernandez had four RBI and four hits, and Tommy Edman had another big game one day after a walk-off. 

However, it was Kike Hernandez who made history not seen in the modern MLB era. Hernandez came off the bench but replaced Freddie Freeman at first base. Then, Hernandez recorded one hit and scored a pair of runs. 

But, that wasn't all. Hernandez pitched the top of the ninth inning. Yes, really. In doing so, he set a never-before-seen MLB record in the modern era. 

"Kiké Hernández of the @Dodgers is the only MLB player in the modern era to score multiple runs, play multiple positions and have a scoreless outing on the mound all in a game he did not start."

And, Hernandez did so in style. He wore a pitcher's helmet in the final frame. 

Hernandez has always been viewed as a utilityman, but Dodgers manager Dave Roberts went the extra mile on Tuesday with the game firmly out of hand.
