Knicks earn highest praise from Celtics 2008 NBA champion image

There was a bit of sacrilege in Boston Celtics land on Monday night.

One of the members of the 2008 NBA championship team had some very nice things to say about the Knicks.

To be fair, the Knicks earned it. They came back from 20 down to pull off an impressive road win in overtime of Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

But still: Kendrick Perkins didn't have to be so complimentary, did he?

There's nothing false about Perkins' statement. It's just all about where it's coming from.

He was the big, physical, gritty center on those Big 3 Celtics teams that finally got the job done in 2008.

Now, he's an ESPN talking head, and apparently praising his former team's opponent is fair game.

Perkins deserves a bit of praise for that, honestly, not just shilling to one fan base.

But still, it was a tough night in Boston, and it definitely didn't make it any better to see what Perk had to say.

Knicks fans must be loving it, though.
