Chelsea are willing to pay up to £51m [$68m] for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo in the summer transfer window, but they could face competition from rivals Manchester United.
According to a report from Fichajes.com, the Blues are willing to submit an opening offer to sign the 25-year-old Premier League star.
Mbeumo has enjoyed an incredible season so far at Brentford with 18 league goals scored and six assists laid on in in the EPL.
Given the kind of form Mbeumo has been in throughout 2024/25, it comes as no surprise that Bees coach Thomas Frank has labelled the Cameroon international as ‘unplayable’.
Mbeumo’s output has attracted interest from a number of clubs across Europe and the Blues are just one of his potential transfer suitors.
Chelsea will have to fend off interest from United and others who are also planning to test Frank's resolve over keeping him at the Gtech Community Stadium.

How Mbeumo would fit into Chelsea
Mbeumo could be an astute signing for Chelsea, if they manage to prize him away from the Bees. The 25-year-old is versatile enough to operate anywhere across the front three, and he would add goals and creativity to the Chelsea attack.
The Blues have been overly dependent on Cole Palmer this season, and they could use more depth on the side, with Mbeumo adept at share the goal-scoring and the goal creation burden with Palmer.
The opportunity to join one of the biggest clubs in the country will be quite exciting for the player as well. Chelsea could provide him with the platform to compete in the UEFA Champions League next season and fight for trophies.
Mbeumo is entering the peak years of his career, and he will want to compete at the highest level.
