After the NFL Draft, Aaron Rodgers is still without a team, but there could be a better indication that he ends up with the Pittsburgh Steelers now. The Steelers drafted Ohio State quarterback Will Howard in the sixth round, joining a position group of Skylar Thompson and Mason Rudolph. Arguably the worst quarterback room in the NFL, the Steelers need Rodgers more than ever before.
It's a bit interesting that the team didn't draft Shedeur Sanders, but for whatever reason, the same could be said for nearly every team in the NFL that allowed him to fall the way he did. Nonetheless, the Steelers fit for Rodgers is now more apparent than ever, and Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports believes that's where he'll end up.
“Pittsburgh did draft Ohio State quarterback Will Howard in the sixth round of the draft, but that should hardly impact how the team's continued pursuit/courting of Aaron Rodgers. Along with Howard, the club has Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson on the quarterback depth chart, so there is still a massive need to add someone of Rodgers' caliber who can come in as the starter. Nothing they did over the draft weekend should change how Rodgers should feel about potentially heading to Pittsburgh,” he wrote.

Howard had been a decent quarterback throughout his college career, winning a national championship with Ohio State last season.
However, he didn’t exactly show the tools to be a competent NFL quarterback. Perhaps the same could be said for Rodgers at the stage of his career, but he was still decent during the 2024 campaign, throwing for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns.
At the very least, the Steelers would understand they have a quarterback who understands the NFL. They’ll have to hope that the future Hall of Famer might still have something left in the tank.
