The NFL is a tough business, and after a while, being a highly regarded draft pick won't save you anymore.
Kansas City Chiefs fans had high hopes for wide receiver Skyy Moore, the 54th-overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He was a standout at Western Michigan, and he looked to have the speed and overall physicality to become at least a solid NFL wideout.
Unfortunately, that's not what he's become yet through three years on the Chiefs. Moore has appeared in 36 games, including just six this past season, and totaled 43 catches for 494 yards and one touchdown.
Slowly but surely, the Chiefs have loaded their receiver room with other youngsters, including their fourth-round pick from Saturday's draft. Will that spell doom for Moore's time in Kansas City?
On Tuesday, Brian Sampson predicted that Moore would be among the roster cuts for the Chiefs during the 2025 preseason, thanks to the addition of Jalen Royals.
"(The Chiefs) added another burner in Utah State’s Jalen Royals, who ran a 4.42-second 40-yard dash and brings big-play potential to an offense loaded with speed," Sampson wrote. "That leaves Moore in a precarious spot."

"Now entering the final year of his rookie contract, Moore will need to shine in camp and preseason just to keep a seat at the table. If not, he may be the odd man out in a room that’s only getting faster."
It's easy enough to predict that Moore won't be a huge piece of the Chiefs' plans, because he didn't have a single catch last season, instead being relegated to special teams duties.
The Chiefs would save just over $1.5 million against the cap by cutting Moore, either before or after the initial Jun. 1 deadline.
