Browns' shocking plan to cut QB after Shedeur Sanders draft pick revealed by NFL insider image

The Cleveland Browns are going to have to get rid of a quarterback.

Pretty much everyone in the NFL can agree on that. There's no way they can roster all of Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel during the 2025 regular season.

They just might reduce their ranks in a way most people aren't expecting.

NFL insider James Palmer recently put together a video for Bleacher Report in which he made his prediction.

Palmer speculated that Flacco will likely start, with Sanders and Gabriel on the team, too.

That means cutting Pickett, who the Browns just traded for from the Eagles this offseason.

"Kenny Pickett's going to have to clearly beat out the others to stay on this roster, most likely," Palmer said.

It'd be a bit surprising, but something definitely has to give.

Pickett just actually might have an NFL future, where the 40-year old Flacco is clearly on his last legs.

It doesn't make sense for the Browns to cut one of the QBs they drafted, not before they've ever even reached their rookie regular season.

It probably will come down to Pickett or Flacco, to be sure.

Palmer just expects the younger, more mobile, recent Super Bowl champion backup to be the one to go.

We'll see if he's right.
