Jamarra Ugle-Hagan has changed his Instagram profile picture to a photo of Nick Riewoldt in response to criticism from the St Kilda legend.

Significantly, the image is a cropped version of a photo in which Riewoldt is naked, reputedly taken by teammate Sam Gilbert before later being shared online by "St Kilda schoolgirl", Kim Duthie.

The move follows comments by Riewoldt regarding Ugle-Hagan.

Earlier this week, the Western Bulldogs announced they'd come to an agreement with Ugle-Hagan to take a leave of absence from the club while he deals with personal issues.

On Wednesday, Riewoldt, also a former number one draft pick, spoke about Ugle-Hagan's situation on Triple M.

"The frustration for the Bulldogs was that he was showing up for training for a week, and then not show up," Riewoldt said.

"They had no real line of sight on when he was going to come, it was basically just lucky dip - that's distracting.

"I think the straw that broke the camel's back was when the group went to Adelaide for Gather Round – there was a compulsory session for the players that didn't go on the Saturday morning, he didn't show up for it.

"I think the balance of power has moved too far in the player's favour and you end up with a situation like this.

"It is difficult to talk about because there is mental health at play, but clubs should have some sort of discretion to be able to recoup some of that money.

"It feels like players can essentially take the piss."

Over the weekend, Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge made his strongest comments yet on the former number one pick, suggesting things could “come to a head” if there is no change in the player's situation.

“We hope he is connecting with the medical experts and from time-to-time our practitioners and that the penny will drop at some point, and we can turn it around,” Beveridge said an interview with the Herald Sun.

“But if it doesn’t happen over the remainder of the season, then I don’t know. It will probably come to a head.”

Beveridge also admitted he wasn't convinced the 67-gamer still had the desire to play AFL.

“I don’t know, that is the serious answer. He will tell you he does, but the actions don’t back the words up,” he said, later adding:

“You can’t choose which days you don’t come.”

Ugle-Hagan hasn't played since the club's elimination final exit to Hawthorn last year, a season in which he kicked a career-best 43 goals.

The Bulldogs have begun the 2025 campaign with a 4-3 record, most recently taking down rivals GWS in Canberra on Sunday.
