Tottenham's 4-0 Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg loss to Liverpool, rendering their first-leg victory moot and denying Spurs another chance to end their silverware drought, was the latest deflating result for Ange Postecoglou's side and Spurs fans worldwide.
After the highs of thrashing Manchester City on their own home turf by the same scoreline in November, Tottenham have since hemorrhaged results in the Premier League and have now lost out on one of their three chances to cover for a write-off EPL campaign.
TV pundit and notable former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher held nothing back in his post-match analysis, and pinpointed one problem area in particular when doing so.
Spurs' midfield trio of Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Matar Sarr had a game to forget in particular, and two of them were withdrawn before 60 minutes on the clock.
Carragher did not mince his words about them.
"When I looked at those three midfield players today, I thought they were a disgrace, those Tottenham midfield players," he told Sky Sports after the game.

"You're playing a semi-final. [For the] first 15 minutes, half an hour, Liverpool will be on the ball, put you under pressure, but get after them, be aggressive.
"Maybe forget the ball the first half an hour, but be aggressive, even if you're camped in your own half.
"It was still so easy for Liverpool to get to the edge of the box. Those midfield players didn't even put a challenge in. It was shocking."
Carragher: Accrington Stanley gave more than Tottenham did vs. Liverpool
Carragher then compared Spurs' performance to that of a League Two side who recently faced the current Premier League leaders in cup competition.
Tottenham did not come out of the comparisons in a favourable light, either.
"I think of a cup tie Liverpool played at home a few weeks ago in the FA Cup," explained Carragher.
"Liverpool didn't play their best team, but I think Accrington Stanley gave more than Tottenham tonight and gave Liverpool more of a problem. That's not right."
