Parramatta has revealed Shaun Lane will be taking time away from the game with the backrower "considering his future," according to a brief statement from the club.
"He won’t be playing this weekend," the Eels added. "As a club, we are supporting him through this period."
It is unclear at this stage whether he is contemplating early retirement, or if he wants to move elsewhere.

Shaun Lane steps away from the Eels to consider his future
Lane has experienced a tough start to life under Jason Ryles so far this season.
After missing the opening round loss to Melbourne, he featured on an edge for five successive matches. However, the Eels won just one game during this difficult period which came against St George Illawarra in Round 5.
The 30-year-old was axed by Ryles following Parra’s horror 50-12 loss to Canberra last week.
It continued a poor run for the former New South Wales Origin hopeful, who has averaged just 53 run metres per game in 2025.
His attacking numbers are also well down on what has come to be expected, with just one try, one linebreak and four offloads to show for his efforts.
"Lane is taking some time away from the game to consider his future," the Eels stated.
The forward was dropped with Kelma Tuilagi named as his replacement for the Easter Monday clash against the Wests Tigers.
Lane was originally named to take on the Western Suburbs Magpies in the NSW Cup.
But he will not take the field for the Eels in the reserve grade match that is set to be headlined by the inclusion of Lachlan Galvin for the opposition side.
