Arsenal are preparing for a big summer transfer window as Mikel Arteta aims to revamp his squad with the intention of challenging Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title.

The Gunners are set to finish second once again in the EPL, which will be their third consecutive season of finishing one place behind the league leaders.

Arteta's team were massively shorthanded in attack this season due to injuries for Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus. Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka also has had his share of fitness issues with the England international now back in action.

While the North Londoners have been linked with several forwards, recent reports from Spanish publication Relevo suggest they have enquired about Real Madrid winger Rodrygo Goes, who may leave the Spanish capital this summer.

According to the report, talks are still in a preliminary stage, but the interest from Arsenal is genuine, as he joins Nico Williams on their transfer shortlist.

The Gunners will weigh up all their options before considering a firm offer, but the prospect of signing the Brazil international from Real Madrid is enticing for Arteta, as he looks for the missing piece to his front line.

City are reportedly also interested in the 24-year-old, alongside other Premier League clubs, but Arsenal are currently the front-runners as they have initiated talks regarding a potential move.

Will Rodrygo fit into Mikel Arteta's Arsenal plans?

As per reports from Marca, Rodrygo is unsettled in Madrid, especially after the arrival of Kylian Mbappe. The young winger doesn't feel appreciated enough and has flown under the radar with Vinicius Jr., Mbappe, and Jude Bellingham hogging most of the limelight.

The winger is also not happy with his omission from the Ballon d'Or top 20 shortlist. He believes he has delivered enough convincing performances for Los Blancos to command that respect.

Rodrygo has netted 12 goals and provided nine assists in 50 appearances for the club this season as a solid tally alongside Mbappe and Vini Jr.

His current contract runs until 2028, and Real Madrid are under no pressure to sell, so they could demand anything around €100m [£86m] for their right-winger.

Rodrygo also seamlessly fits in Arteta's system with his versatility to play in multiple positions in attack which will allow for rotations with Saka and Gabriel Martinelli and Arteta would also have the option to play all three together.
