Manchester United might be ready to roll the dice in the transfer market — but there’s a catch.

The Red Devils are keeping close tabs on Barcelona center-back Ronald Araujo. However, any move depends on one major factor: Champions League football.

Yes, the math is simple. Win the Europa League. Secure a Champions League spot. Then go all-in for Araujo.

That’s the plan manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly backing. And with United leading 3-0 after the first leg of the Europa League semifinal, fans are already dreaming.

Araujo is one of Europe’s top talents at the back.

Strong in duels, good on the ball, and not afraid of a challenge — just the kind of player United have been crying out for since Nemanja Vidic hung up his boots.

Why Man Utd wants Ronald Araujo?

Despite signing a long-term deal with Barca until 2031, Araujo’s minutes this season have raised eyebrows.

Injuries didn’t help, but even when fit, the Uruguayan has been benched in favor of Pau Cubarsí and Inigo Martínez.

Reports say the 26-year-old is growing concerned. His role isn’t clear. And while his “entourage has kept a low profile,” the silence might be louder than words.

“If Barca doesn’t guarantee him that role, he could consider a change of scenery,” one report noted. That’s United’s cue.

Amorim wants the defender as the “cornerstone” of a new-look backline, and the club is said to be preparing an offer north of €70 million.

That won’t be easy, considering Barcelona’s high release clause. But if there’s one thing United are good at, it’s paying big for defenders — let’s just hope this one isn’t another makeshift striker moment.
