After a blockbuster NFL regular season and playoffs, only one game remains on the calendar of America's biggest league: the Super Bowl.

For the second time in three years, the Philadelphia Eagles will take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the championship clash, with the City of Brotherly Love trying to claim revenge for their defeat in 2023, and prevent Patrick Mahomes' men from claiming the first-ever NFL three-peat.

Has an Australian ever won the Super Bowl?

No Australian has ever played in a winning Super Bowl, with the current record sitting at 0-5.

Aussie Jesse Williams did recieve a Super Bowl ring for the Seattle Seahawks championship in 2013, Williams missed that entire season due to a knee injury.

This means that Mailata, in his second attempt, can become the first Australian to play in a winning Super Bowl effort.

How many Australians have played in the Super Bowl?

With Mailata set to play in his second decider - with his first coming in 2023 - he is one of just four Australians to reach the NFL's big dance.

Ben Graham - Arizona Cardinals 2009

The first-ever Aussie to play in a Super Bowl, former AFL star Ben Graham made history in 2005 when he crossed over to the NFL, becoming one of the league's top punters.

Graham made the Super Bowl with the Arizona Cardinals in 2009, losing by four points to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but it was a big day for the Australian, who punted five times for 180 total yards, three coming down inside the 20-yard line.

Mitch Wishnowsky - San Francisco 49ers 2020, 2024

The first Australian to play in two Super Bowls, Wishnowsky punted for the 49ers in both 2020 and 2024, both losses to the Kansas City Chiefs.

While he punted just twice in his first championship game, 2024's edition was much more productive for the Western Australia product, racking up 254 yards on five punts, three down inside the 20.

Arryn Siposs - Philadelphia Eagles 2023

Another Aussie who suffered a Super Bowl defeat at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs, Siposs was the Eagles' punter during the 2023 finale.

In the loss, Siposs had limited run, just a pair of punts for the Aussie gaining 95 total yards. Unfortunately he was released ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Jordan Mailata - Philadelphia Eagles 2023, 2025

Mailata will be out for revenge in Super Bowl LIX, having been beaten by the Chiefs in 2023.

Expect a strong running game from the Eagles once more, with Mailata and the offensive line clearing the way for Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts on the ground.
