Liverpool set Darwin Nunez price tag as La Liga giants keen on summer transfer image

It looks like Darwin Nunez may have just last 4 matches to kick his last ball for Liverpool.

Liverpool are open to parting ways with striker Darwin Nunez this summer, but only if the price is right.

After two seasons of ups and downs, the Reds have now placed a tag of €40–45 million (around £34–38 million) on the Uruguayan forward, as per reports (via AS).

Nunez, once touted as Liverpool’s next big No. 9, hasn't quite hit the heights expected when he arrived from Benfica in 2022 for a hefty €75 million fee.

This season, he’s had flashes of brilliance — five goals and two assists in the league — but has fallen down the pecking order, especially since Arne Slot began reshaping the squad.

Now, Spanish side Atletico Madrid are ready to pounce.

Clubs eyeing Darwin Nunez as Liverpool looks for replacement

Reports in Spain suggest Diego Simeone is a big fan of Nunez and wants him to be the next Luis Suárez-style success story at the club.

Atletico are weighing up a permanent move but are also open to a loan deal — if Liverpool agrees to a buy clause and the new club takes on most of his wages.

“Darwin Nunez will almost certainly leave,” say sources close to the club. Liverpool have already told him he’s not in next season’s plans.

Simeone sees Nunez as a good fit, especially if Angel Correa departs after the Club World Cup.

But Atletico aren’t alone. Saudi side Al-Nassr tried to sign him in January, and Nottingham Forest are monitoring the situation too — particularly if they land a Champions League spot.

However, Nunez isn’t too keen on a Middle East move just yet. He wants to stay in Europe, and Atletico’s Champions League offer might just be the golden ticket.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are looking for a new striker, with names like Joao Pedro, Alexander Isak, and Benjamin Sesko on their radar.

But to buy, they need to sell as the stock for forwards looks overloaded. And Nunez may be their first major departure.
