With both Dan Houston and Kane Farrell missing from Port Adelaide's semi-final team against Hawthorn, Jase Burgoyne was swung into defence to be one of the ball distributors.

Burgoyne, who is the son of Power legend Peter and nephew of Shaun, was best on ground across half back as Port Adelaide shaded the Hawks by three points to reach the preliminary final.

Along with kicking a crucial final quarter goal, Burgoyne amassed 25 possessions, five rebound 50s and nine marks in a damaging rebound display.

But with Houston moving on to Collingwood permanently in the off-season, Burgoyne doesn't feel he will replace the two-time All Australian.

AFL DRAFT NEWS:

The 21-year-old explained how comfortable he is playing on the wing and indicated this is likely to continue in 2025.

“We haven’t really spoken too much in depth [about my 2025 position,” Burgoyne told The Advertiser.

“I guess they will use me wherever they think I should be.

“I was pretty happy on the wing, spent most of the year there but went back in finals and I was pretty comfortable there as well.

“I’m pretty settled on the wing, we have such a good defence group and guys like Josh Sinn, Logan Evans coming through, Dylan Williams and Kane Farrell.

“We have so many options back there.”

The Power are tipped to slide in 2025 with the team currently predicted to finish ninth in Sportsbet's AFL premiership betting.
