Anthony Edwards was fined $50,000 on Tuesday for a vulgar comment made toward a fan in Minnesota's win over Los Angeles on Saturday, according to ESPN's Shams Charania

The NBA said it fined Edwards for "directing inappropriate language and making an obscene gesture toward a fan." The incident occurred during a timeout in the third quarter of Saturday's game.

This isn't the first time Edwards has been fined for obscenity or profanity. The NBA docked him $100,000 on Dec. 29, "for using profane language during a live television interview" and $50,000 on Jan. 13 "for making obscene gestures toward a game official."

Edwards will not miss any games after this most recent fine, but he will need to clean up his language toward officials and fans if he wants to avoid picking up any technical fouls. The Timberwolves play the Lakers on Tuesday in Game 2 of their Western Conference first-round playoff series.

The exchange with a fan that led to Edward's fine occurred during a timeout in the third quarter of Saturday's game. In a video captured by someone in the crowd, Edwards is sitting on the scorer's table engaging in a verbal back-and-forth with the fan. As he returns to the court, Edwards grabs his crotch and makes a vulgar comment to the fan.

Anthony Edwards fines this season

Edwards has now been fined six different times this season, totaling $335,000. There has been profane or obscene language involved with each incident. The last time he was fined was Jan. 13 for making a one-finger salute toward game officials in a loss to Memphis on Jan. 11.

In addition to his fines, Edwards led the NBA in technical fouls this season. He served an automatic one-game suspension in late February for receiving his 16th technical foul in a loss to the Lakers, a game in which he was ejected.
