NRL Judiciary Round 2: Herbie Farnworth learns fate, Salesi Foketi to fight charge image

Young Roosters forward Salesi Foketi will dispute the grading of his Judiciary charge after he was sin-binned for a dangerous tackle against the Panthers.

Elsewhere in the league, Herbie Farnworth avoided a suspension despite being cited during the Dolphins’ 26-12 loss to Newcastle.

The same however cannot be said for Rabbitohs youngster Lachlan Hubner, who will spend a fortnight on the sidelines for his tackle on Clint Gutherson.

The Sporting News compiles this week's charges and punishments.

Salesi Foketi to challenge high tackle charge

Roosters young gun Foketi has been charged with a Grade 2 careless high tackle.

He had the option to miss one match with an early guilty plea but has instead opted to plead guilty and challenge the grading of the charge.

The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday evening.

Should he be unsuccessful, he faces a two-game suspension.

Foketi earned a start at lock in the Roosters' shock win over the Panthers, with the 19-year-old playing 32 minutes.

He was sent to the sin bin in the 73rd minute after his shoulder made contact with Scott Sorenson's head in a tackle.

Lachlan Hubner to miss two weeks

UPDATE: Hubner has taken the early guilty plea and will miss the next two rounds. In that time, the Rabbitohs will face the Sharks and the Panthers.

Hubner's debut season for the Rabbitohs is off to a tough start, with the 25-year-old set to miss at least two games.

After starting at lock against the Dragons, Hubner was charged for a crusher tackle against Clint Gutherson in just the second minute of the match.

He now faces a two-game ban with an early guilty plea, or the possibility of three games if he is found guilty by the panel.

Herbie Farnworth dodges suspension

Ponga targeted Farnworth and his fellow centre Jake Averillo all night in the Hunter and came up trumps time and time again.

After James Schiller bagged an early double down Averillo’s side, the Knights then turned their attention to the Dolphins' right-edge defence.

Bradman Best barged his way over from close-range with Farnworth hitting Ponga with an unnecessary shot in the build-up to the four-pointer that drew the attention of the Bunker.

However, the centre avoided a ban when the NRL Judiciary report was released on Friday morning.

Kai Pearce-Paul given ban

Farnworth wasn't the only player to come under scrutiny during the match with Kai Pearce-Paul sent to the sin-bin for a shoulder charge on Daniel Saifiti.

The English backrower was cited for the illegal shot belatedly off the kick-off after making contact with Saifiti's head.

Pearce-Paul was handed a grade two charge for the incident which will rule him out for two matches after he entered an early plea.
