Browns draft Michigan star instead of Travis Hunter after shocking trade image

The Cleveland Browns' 2025 NFL Draft didn't start how anyone expected.

They dealt away the No. 2 overall pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars, allowing the Jags to take Travis Hunter instead of Cleveland.

And then at No. 5, the Browns went defensive tackle.

They took Michigan star Mason Graham.

Graham has been regarded all along as one of the draft's best prospects outside of Hunter and Abdul Carter.

He's a monster on the interior of the defensive line. He had 3.5 sacks and seven tackles for loss in 2024 for the Wolverines.

Graham is a disruptor, capable of demanding multiple blockers and blowing up plays with brute force.

It's just a really unexpected turn of events for Cleveland.

They were expected to get the generational talent Hunter.

Now, they have more picks down the road, but no Hunter.

Instead, it's Ohio State's biggest rival delivering Graham to Cleveland.

"Winding road to get there, but Graham always fit," The Athletic's Zac Jackson tweeted. "The Browns embracing the reality of their situation was as mandatory as getting that JAX 2026 first rounder."

Is it the right call? Only time will tell.

All that Graham can do is try to develop into one of the best interior defensive linemen in the NFL.
