The NRL season is edging ever closer, with plenty of SuperCoach players already planning out their sides ahead of the new campaign.
As with every year, a number of new additions have been made to the SuperCoach game.
The introduction of the 'Flex' position is undoubtedly the major talking point in 2025 and will cause a big change to how the game is played.

What is the 'Flex' position in NRL SuperCoach 2025?
The 'Flex' spot will essentially see the number of available scoring players in SC teams each week jump from 17 to 18. The addition acting like the 18th man in actual NRL.
Each week, players can cop head knocks or go down injured early and their low scores can scuttle SC totals for the week.
However, the 'Flex' position provides a welcome reprieve to this, by essentially eliminating the lowest scoring player from your SC side.
They act as an insurance against injury and bad luck with the highest scores from 17 of your chosen 18 players taken as your total score each round.
How to use the 'Flex' player in NRL SuperCoach
The introduction of the 'Flex' player opens up a host of new avenues to venture down within SC.
The spot could be used to harbour another gun fullback in your side, or alternatively be utilised as a potential cash cow.
The argument for the three gun fullbacks is strong - the FLB position consistently ranks as the highest points scorers in SC, so having the ability to pick three rather than two of them will enhance your totals each week.
The options and combinations are almost endless; James Tedesco, Tom Trbojevic, Kalyn Ponga, Latrell Mitchell, Ryan Papenhuyzen, Dylan Edwards and Reece Walsh.
Having three of them in your SC side can now be possible as one can be put into the 'Flex' spot in your 18 with their scores inevitably being added to your total instead of whoever your lowest scoring player is that week.
Alternatively, SC players could opt to go down the money-making route with their use of the 'Flex' player.
Isaiah Iongi currently stands as the most obvious example of this with the Parramatta recruit set to take over from Clint Gutherson at fullback.
The young gun is available at a basement price, so if he bags the No.1 jersey he could earn significant price increases.
This ability to generate a chunk of cash early in the season could then help SC players buy proven guns later on while significantly improving upon their squads.
What are the other benefits of the 'Flex' player in NRL SuperCoach?
A dual position 'Flex' player could come in handy during trades, as they would be able to be moved around your squad to accommodate moves in the market.
In the past, SC players had to switch around a number of things to trade from one player to another in a different position.
However, the 'Flex' player allows for increased flexibility in roster management and opens up new ways to execute complicated trades.
The 'Flex' player will also provide the opportunity to utilise the vice-captain loophole more in 2025.
Previously, when using the loop the lowest scoring player on the side that week would be counted towards a SC total.
This basement score should theoretically be improved upon by at least 10 points now though due to the 'Flex' spot, which will consequently knock down the threshold of around 130 points to 120 points from a captain to loop with the VC later in the round.
